SATS
Well done to all Y6 pupils who have worked incredibly hard this week.

Parent Talks
This term we are going to try out a new approach to our usual class talks in an attempt to increase attendance. On Tuesday 17th May at 3.30pm, each year group will hold a meeting for parents to discuss this term’s topics. We will supervise the children in one of the classes while the meeting takes place in the other room. At our parents talks we will be demonstrating Fronter which is a safe web based virtual learning environment that can only be accessed by our school. It is an on-line system that your child will be able to access from home to help them with their learning. All classes will be using this in ICT lessons and before half term we will be sending home a login so that this site can be accessed at home.

Bike to school week
Just a reminder that Bike to school week which had been scheduled for next week has been postponed.

Team Superschools
Team Superschools is a company that arrange for a ‘Sporting celebrity’ to visit the school for one day to work with all children. Scooter Skills Sessions
These sessions will be taking place on Thursday 26th May for children whose parents have expressed an interest. There are still some places left so please let me know if your child is interested. Mr Merchant

Message from the Chair of Governors
Parking at or near the School.

May I thank the many parents and carers who responded to our recent request for more considerate and safer parking of motor vehicles at the school when depositing or collecting children. There has been an improvement with less cars parked over the driveways of residents who live in the roads surrounding the school. There fortunately are fewer cars stopping dangerously in the middle of the road and rear doors opening to let a young child run across the road or appear from behind or in front of a badly parked car and cross the road.
However the correction by many further exposes the careless and blatant dangerous parking of a few who continue to allow their children to appear in the road of an unexpected passing vehicle.
This week a driver turned into a driveway, partially stopped and then reversed into the road as children and adults were crossing. They showed no respect to other road users as they continued a six point turn rather than just drive and turn naturally into a nearby road.

I continue to liaise with the local Police Community Safety Team requesting that they continue to target these drivers so that they may be reported and prosecuted. We need to act on this now to prevent having to report the tragedy of a serious accident on these pages because of the willful acts of parents and carers who persist in parking dangerously or stopping and letting children run from or to the vehicle.

Thank you to those who have listened and reduced the risk to Glade children and be warned those who want to act irresponsibly.
