newsletter 4th march

Reminder Don’t forget that on Monday 8th March we have an INSET Day. Therefore, school will be closed for pupils.

Absence During Term-Time Please be advised that Glade Primary have signed up to the Redbridge Education Authority’s ‘zero tolerance’ approach towards parents/carers who request permission to take their children out of school during term time. If a child is taken out of school parents will be liable for a fine of £100 and if this absence exceeds a period of 10 days there is also a risk that they will lose their child’s place at school.

Sports Relief Week Sport Relief Week will be taking place from Monday 15th March—Friday 19th March. Please ensure that your child has their PE Kit in school every day this week as they will be taking part in a range of new and exciting sports each afternoon. On Friday 19th March children will be invited to bring in a £1 to come to school dressed as a sporting hero or in sports clothes. They will also complete their Sport Relief challenge on this day!

World Book Day Voucher With this newsletter your child will be bringing home a voucher for World Book Day. This will entitle them to money off when purchasing any book before 28th March.

Year 6 Citizenship Day On Tuesday our Year 6 pupils attended the Hargreaves Scout Camp for a Citizenship Day event. The pupils are placed into practical scenarios involving simulated danger to assess how they deal with it. This scheme is run by the local authority, the Police and other emergency services and is a valuable opportunity for our pupils to develop “Life Skills”.

Church Visits This week our pupils in Years 5 and 6 participated in a visit to the Latchett Evangelical Church in South Woodford to see an exhibition of video music and commentary on the life of Jesus. This is a planned event linked to the RE curriculum.

Primary Schools Gala We wish our swim team the best of luck in all their events at the Primary Schools Gala next week, Thursday 11th March.

Reminder Please remember that all money that comes into school should be in an envelope. The envelope should be clearly marked with what the money is for, child’s name, child’s class and the amount enclosed. This will help the staff in the school office to ensure that the money goes to the correct place. Envelopes for school dinner money are obtainable from the office and packs of small envelopes can also be purchased for £1.00. Thank you.
