No.6 - 15th October 2009

We have really enjoyed our Science activities this week. Everyone has been doing lots of practical enquiries to find out scientific facts . There are lots of great scientists in our school!

We have also been lucky enough to have a visiting science show which demonstrated the science of the circus and Galileo's great mistake which included lots of explosions, which the children loved.

Reception Admissions 2010
If your child is eligible for a reception place for September 2010, please remember to send in your applications to Lynton House by December 11th 2009, so that your child does not lose out on being allocated a place.

Secondary School Applications
Year 6 parents, please ensure your applications reach Lynton House by 23rd October 2009. This deadline is very important.

Attendance
Well done 4N for your 100% attendance!

Car Parks
Please do not park in the staff car parks in Atherton Road or Harewood Drive, as these are specifically for staff use.

Photographing Pupils
From time to time we take photos of the children in class and on trips, etc. The photographs are used in displays within school, but also on the school website. If you have any objection, please let us know by writing in.

Parents Evening Appointments
I hope that you have all managed to make appointments with the classteacher. If not, please do so in order that you can meet with the teacher to discuss your child’s progress.

One World Week—Thursday 22nd October 3.45-4.15pm
Once again we would like to run an International Food Tasting event. This was very popular last year. We would very much like your support once again. If you are able to donate a dish from a different country, please send it in on Thursday 22nd October clearly labelled with the ingredients. Thank you to all who have offered to donate so far.

PAWS/PANTO
PAWS have once again booked some tickets for the annual pantomime at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford. It is for 6th January 2010 and the tickets are priced at £9 per person. Children need to be accompanied by an adult. We have only secured a number of tickets so places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to purchase tickets please send the money in to school by Friday 23rd October and place it in a clearly marked envelope with the correct money and number of tickets you require.

Late Collection of Children at the end of the school day
Some parents are using the office staff as free ‘childcare’ for 15-30 minutes regularly. School finishes at 3.30pm as does our duty of care. Therefore, if this continues, we will send the children to after school club and pass the charge onto the parents concerned. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Good Works Assemblies
Please note that class RN will come out slightly late on Fridays because of the afternoon Good Works Assemblies.

Book Fair
The school book fair will start from tomorrow until next Wednesday 21st October in the main school hall at 3.30pm each day. Please come along to support it.

Sealegs Theatre Co.
This company will be visiting school on 2nd November and will be performing ’The Selfish Giant’ puppet show to all children from Nursery to Year 6. Please could you donate a £1 towards the cost of this extravaganza.
