Olympic Week This year we will be holding Olympic week on Monday 14th—Friday 18th March. We have lots of exciting events planned for the week including Karate and Capoeira workshops (see if you can find out what that is!). The popular Nintendo Wii challenge will also be back by demand! Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school each day so that they don’t miss out on any opportunities. On Friday 18th March we will be holding a non-uniform day with the theme—’Sporting Heroes!’ Children will be invited to bring in a £1 on this day which will go towards Comic Relief . Mr. Merchant

Staying in School at Playtimes We have no facilities in school for the children to stay indoors during play and lunchtimes unless it is wet play. China Week We have had China Week in school all week and on Tuesday were visited by Tony Cranston and his wife who did storytelling and calligraphy with the children.
Reminder Tomorrow is non-uniform day. Donations of £1 to PAWS wear red.
Sign2Sing This World Record attempt happened in school yesterday whereby all the children sang and signed in unison to raise money for deaf people. If you have not yet sent in your donation and would still like to it is not too late. Please send donations in via the school office. Thank you.
Year 6 Non-Residential Trips Just to confirm that we have now definitely cancelled the two trips that were booked to Lambourne End and Aquasplash. If you had already paid for these trips please come into the school office for your refund. We have now organised team building/games on the 15th March and a drama session on 17th. There will also be activities such as arts and crafts.
Parent Governor Nigel Green finishes his term of office as a parent governor on 19th February 2011. We would like to thank him for his commitment to Glade and dedication particularly during the two recent building projects. We would like to welcome our new Parent Governor Jawood Vohra, who will begin his term of office on 20th February 2011.
Punctuality Our Education Welfare Officer Anjula Gill did a late gate on Wednesday. Please be reminded that children should be in the playground at 8.55am and ready to start work at 9am. It is a sensible routine for all children to be ready and in the line when the bell goes at 8.55am each day.
Mid-day Position We have a vacancy for a relief Mid –day who can be called up in the event of an absence. If you are interested please contact the school office.
Dangerous Parking At their recent Governing Body meeting members discussed the problems raised by parents, staff and local residents over the parking of vehicles in the vicinity of the school when bringing children to and collecting them from Glade.
These problems include:
· Parents stopping in the middle of the road, at or near school entrances, and allowing children to then run across the road into school. The dangers to young children being struck by other cars cannot be over stated .
· Cars parked obstructing residents driveways. This is not only illegal but understandably gives the school and all of us a bad name.
· Vehicles parked on corners, on kerbs and in such a manner to force pedestrians into the road before they can be seen by passing vehicles. Again placing small children at risk of being injured.
· A complete disregard by some school parents for the safety of children and the good name of Glade school.
Such is the concern that discussions are to take place between the School Senior Management Team, The Metropolitan Police and London Borough of Redbridge to allow action, including prosecutions of those parking vehicles dangerously, to be implemented. Safety of our children is the responsibility of us all. Park safely away from the school and report those who endanger children.
Parking We have had reports of two cars parking on the double yellow lines outside Nursery. As said this is totally unacceptable. The number plates are as follows: BK51 NKC and V491 VNV.
