Welcome back to you all after the half term holiday. I hope you all had a good week off.
I would like to thank governors, staff and parents for their continued support and commitment leading to improved standards and provision for the pupils at Glade and would like to share some of our many successes during the last academic year and so far this term:
· Achieved Basic Skills Award June 2010.
· Achieved ICT Mark June 2010.
· Completion of buildings providing the school with 2 new classrooms for Reception.
· Good assessment outcomes in Year 6 2010
English Level 4+ = 82% ,Level 5= 40%
Maths Level 4+= 88%, Level 5= 50%
Science Level 4+= 95%, Level 5= 50%
· 3 members of staff visited our partnership school in Beijing in March 2010.
· Attendance targets improved during the year 2009-2010 reachng 95%.
· ESOL classes—well attended.
· Travel Plan
· Redesigned website.
· Active Mark.
· Successful parents workshops for Literacy and Numeracy.
· Successful Activities Fair in September 2009 and 2010.
· Successful Interventions Fair 2010.
· Many special weeks over the year including the “One World” event in October 2010.
Outcomes from pupil and parent questionnaires and whole school evaluations have led to the identification of areas for development.
· To promote the quality and range of events and activities on offer at Glade.
· Writing.
· To develop the Early Years Playground.
· To provide the school with a purpose built library.
Ashton's Cross Country Event Well done to all the children who took part in the Ashton's Cross Country event before half term. All those who took part showed excellent behaviour and team spirit. You were all a credit to the school. Thank you also to those parents who helped with the event. National School Meals Week! From 8th-12th November we are having National Schools Meals Week . This is a scheme which is run by our catering company. If your child has never had a meal before they can have one free school meal during this week to try them out. Alternatively, if your child has a meal every day of this special week their school lunch on 15th November will be free! There will also be events going on during the week and promotions.
