No.1 - 10th September 2009

Welcome back to you all. I do hope that you had a great Summer holiday and are back feeling refreshed and ready for some hard work!

A special welcome to our new Reception children and their parents . I must say that they have all settled into school life very quickly. Well Done!

Class 4P Swimming This starts tomorrow afternoon and continues until Christmas. If you have not yet done so please return the permission slip and money by tomorrow. Also please ensure that your child has the correct swimming kit in school every Friday ready for these lessons.

Dinner Money As you are aware we now have a new catering contract in place. Dinner money is now £1.93 per day and should be in every Monday morning in a clearly marked envelope with your child's name and class on it. If paying by cheque please make them payable to London Borough of Redbridge and not ISSC as previously instructed and put the name of the school and your cheque guarantee number on the back. The company will not provide any school lunches without prior payment so please ensure that we receive all payments promptly on Monday morning.

Photographs Occasionally in school we take photos of the children for purposes such as display or presentations. If you have any objections to this please send a letter in via the school office. Thank you.

Breakfast/After School Club Please note places must be booked in advance via the relevant form and payment also needs to be made in advance.

Uniform/Jewellery Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed in the correct uniform each day and that they do not wear any items of jewellery. Earrings are allowed but only if they are tiny studs.

Swine Flu/etc We continue to work with the children to promote hygiene habits, and would ask all parents to ensure that the children are provided with tissues.
Reporting Absences If your child is absent from school, please phone the school office and inform us of the reason as early as possible.

Music Tuition We have some vacancies for KS2 children who are interested in learning either the clarinet, flute, oboe, trumpet, trombone or cornet. There is a charge for instrument hire and tuition. If you are interested in a place, please write in to the school.

Parents Yoga Classes These are due to start back on Tuesday 22d September at 1.30pm. If you are interested in joining please come to the school office where you can collect an up to date letter regarding new charges.

Good Works Assemblies These will continue on Fridays as follows:
10.15am—Classes 1J,2S,3F,4P,5H and 6M.
3PM—Classes 1M,2M,3D,4N,5M and 6W.
RC will be am and RN pm and will start on 2nd October, once the children have settled in and gained in confidence.
We would like to see as many parents as possible to join us for these.

Drama Letting There is a new school letting beginning on Saturday 12th September from 10am-1pm. This is a drama group, which also includes dancing and singing. Children are welcome to come in and have a free trial with no obligation. If your child is interested please bring them along on Saturday.


Class Talks These begin tomorrow at 8.30am, as always there will be provision for your child to go into the other year group classroom whilst you meet with their teachers. Please try to attend these meetings as we aim to provide parents with lots of relevant information.

Year 6 Sailing This activity begins next Tuesday afternoon and runs for a total of 6 weeks. Children should be back to school for the end of the day at 3.30pm. If you have not already paid please do so or if your child no longer wishes to go please let the school office know as soon as possible so that we can offer the place on.

Toddler Group This resumes next Wednesday16th September at 2pm.

NewPlayground Equipment I expect you have all noticed our lovely new long boat and other playground equipment that was fitted during the holidays. I am sure the children will enjoy getting full use of it all. Please ensure that children do not climb on the roof of the train unsupervised please either before or after school.

Year 6 1960`s Day On 21st October we have arranged for Year 6 to have a 1960`s day as part of the work they are doing in class. Please send your child dressed up accordingly and I am sure they will enjoy this experience immensely.
