PAWS News
Summer Fair 25th June 12-3.30pm— This is our main fundraising event. This years events include many new attractions which we hope you will enjoy as well as some of the old favourites. We hope to see you on Saturday for a fun and enjoyable afternoon with us.

Summer Fair Raffle—Tickets £1 each or 6 for £5—lots of fantastic prizes!
London Eye tickets, Colchester Zoo tickets, Barleylands, Horse Riding lessons, Ice Skating, Paradise Wildlife Park, Adventure Island, Cinema tickets and many many more prizes.

Volunteers Needed—We still need volunteers on the day, to set up, or help run a stall or tidy up at the end. Even half an hour would be great.

Cake donations—we would love some home made cakes for our stall, donations to be received on 24th June (tomorrow) via the school office please.

Good Works Assemblies—There will be none on Friday 24th (tomorrow) due to hall being set up for Summer Fair.

Barleylands Trip Yesterday our Reception children visited Barleylands farm. They had a wonderful time looking around at all the animals and they also had a class based activity where they made pizza!

Evening of Song Last week we mentioned the wonderful ‘Evening of Song’ that happened in school on 9th June. We did not mention the fact however, that we also actually raised £235 during the evening, so a Big Thank you to all.

ight at 5.30pm. You can bring your child with you but they must remain seated alongside you.

Year 3/4 Athletics at Cricklefields Playing Fields Our teams did really well with Year 3 coming 5th and Year 4 coming 6th.
Particular congratulations go to Hannah Sullivan who won the 50m sprint and Alys and Carmel who came 2nd. Also to Danny who came 1st in the 400m distance run. To view detailed results and photographs please go to the Clubs>Sports page of Fronter. Mr Merchant.

Sainsbury’s Vouchers Thank you to everyone who helped to collect these for us. We collected approximately 9500 vouchers which is a great figure. These will be used to order sports equipment for the school and also some workshops for the children to enjoy next year.

Sports Day - 28th June
This is next week KS1 at 9.30am start and KS2 at 1.30pm start. Please ensure that your child is dressed in their team colours and is wearing the appropriate footwear. Please apply sun cream before school and ensure your child has a cap. There will be sufficient drink stops for the children. You may move around the course with your child’s class to enjoy the event,

Gifted and Talented Assembly This took place today. As always our pupils shone. Thank you to Mr. Merchant for organising this event. Marc Preston, one of our Governors attends this event regularly and has commented on the skills and talents of our pupils and the warm and supportive atmosphere is generated by staff and pupils alike.

Reminder for Year 6 from TFL Oyster card forms for free travel need to be done before we break up as they need the school stamp on them.

Industrial Action Thursday 30th June You may have heard through the media about large scale industrial action by the National Union of Teachers (NUT) regarding pensions. Many of our staff belong to the NUT and will be taking part in this action. We will be sending out a letter this week regarding the impact at Glade. Please be prepared for the possibility of school closure for your child’s class.

newsletter no 33 16th June 2011

Book Fair We have raised a staggering £1,500 worth of books for our library. Thank you to all our staff and parents who have donated books.

School Dinner Arrears If your child brings home a letter about dinner arrears please do not ignore it. Payment should be made the following day.

Photographs Please note that Braiswick will be in school to collect any photo orders on Thursday of next week—23rd June. Any orders received after this date may mean that the photographs are not back in time for the end of term. Thank you.

Evening of Song Last Thursday evening four choirs came together for a magical performance. KS1, KS2 and our staff choir as well as the Kantori Khorus. We would like to thank Davida Robinson for all her hard work organising this event.
KS1 Choir at Churchfields Our choir did us proud last Friday when they sang at Churchfields school. What a lovely afternoon!

Dirty Nappies Please refrain from disposing of your child’s dirty nappies in the outside bins as it is not very hygienic for the rest of our children when out to play.

WOW Badge Design Competition Congratulations to Maryam Azhar-Yusuf, Adam Mirza and Jamima Begum for reaching the final of the WOW badge design competition. Well done to everyone who took part.

Active Kids Vouchers We will soon be placing an order with the vouchers that we have collected so please bring in any that you may still have at home.

Riding Bikes to School Please ensure that if you are riding a bike to school you wear a helmet. Please dismount your bike before you enter the school gates.

Winners of Science Quiz
Last week we had Science Week in school which was a fantastic week for all concerned. Winners of teams from each year group as follows:
6WA—Jyothi Sadeh, Husnain Ramzan, Uzzaam Asim, Farriah Riaz, Whitney Ile, Vishnuga Uthayamohan,Ayo Salami, Yaw Debrah, Jeffrey Satchi.
5NB—Mahima Khan, Nahiyan Pasha, Tamzin Freedman, Hanaa Azhar-Yusuf, Lucy Ramoo, Taybah Bibi, Sadri Hasi, Oviyan Sivantham.
4NB—Veishnavan Paramesvaran, Laura Voronkova, Domonic Louis, Khushi Kotecha, Rajan Nandrha, Izn Mokal, Jamila Kasoma, Anu Sofuyi, Thivian Kuganathan.
Overall Winners Year 6 Well Done to all!

Wellgate Farm visited our Nursery on Tuesday
of this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed meeting the animals that came along. If you have not yet paid your money for this event please send it in to the school office as soon as possible.

Sealife Centre Year 2 visited the Sealife Centre on Tuesday this week. The weather was great and all the children had a wonderful day.

Newsletter 32 - 9th June 2011

Welcome back, hope you all had a good half-term break and are ready now for the final half-term of this academic year!

Scholastic Book Fair
Book Week next week , books are on sale in our new library from tonight after school until next Wednesday 3.30-4.15pm. Buy a book and donate it to our new library and for every book bought the school will get commission and you will be entered into our prize draw that will be drawn every day in assembly.


PAWS Information

Summer Fair—Saturday 25th June 12-3.30pm
The Glade Summer Fair is fast approaching and we have been working hard to put together a fantastic event for you. This year we have some new attractions as well as some of the old favourites.
We still need volunteers to help on the day, to set up, or help run a stall or to help tidy at the end of the day. Even if you can only spare half an hour it would be very much appreciated.

Summer Fair Raffle
This year we have a wide range of fantastic prizes. Tickets are priced at £1 each or 6 for £5.
Rent a Stall at the Summer Fair
Would you like to rent or hire a stall at the Summer Fair? The cost will be £15 if you are a parent of a child at Glade school, if not £20 for the day.
No food or drink stalls please. Please leave your details with the school office if you are interested.

Non-Uniform Day PAWS
Friday 17th June
Donations of filled bottles please for our bottle tombola or £1 donation per child. No water bottles please. Thank you

An Evening of Song
This is tonight at 6.30pm. Tickets priced at £2 adults and 50p for children.

Team Superschools
The children were very excited to meet Olympian, Larry Achieke on Wednesday and see him perform his Triple Jump in our hall! Please bring in your sponsorship money in the envelope as soon as possible. Thank you, Mr Merchant.

Good Works Assembly
Please note there will be no good works assemblies on Friday 10th June due to the Science Fair and Friday 24th June as PAWS will be setting up for the Summer Fair.

Fronter
Your Fronter usernames and passwords will be given to the children throughout this week. Please go to the Glade Primary School website (www.glade.redbridge.sch.uk) to log in.

Nursery
Please note the last day for Nursery this academic year will be Thursday 14th July.

Instrument Tuition
If you have a child in years 3-6 who is interested in learning to play the trumpet, cornet or trombone at Glade through Redbridge Music Service, a few spaces have become available. Please let the school office know, there is a charge for this service.

Morning and After School Clubs
If you make a booking for either of these clubs and then realise that you do not need the place please let us know beforehand otherwise you may still be charged. Thank you.

Science Week
Please bring in donations of £3 towards our science show this week also on FRIDAY 10th JUNE you are invited in to the main hall to look at our science work. There is a £2 competition entry charge proceeds will go towards science books for our new library.
