newsletter 23rd sept

Building Works Phase 2 of our building programme commenced over the summer holidays with the construction of 2 new classrooms for our Reception pupils, giving them joint access to the Nursery garden for outdoor activities. Following on from last weeks letter I can now confirm that the internal work is now reaching the completion stage. However, the external works are still continuing. We will update you on the progress.

Activities Fair - Tuesday 28th September 2010 Once again we will be running an Activities Fair in the main hall for parents and pupils to attend to find out about local Arts, Drama and Sports Clubs. This will be open to parents from 3pm and then after school for parents and pupils.
Attendance and Punctuality Please make sure your child arrives at school on time each morning and that they regularly attend. If your child is going to be absent please report this to the school office as early as possible on the first day of the absence.

Leave of Absence Requests All new parents please note:
Pupils attend school for a maximum of 190 days each academic year. Full attendance is vital for your child’s educational progress. The school regards absences as a very serious concern and there is an overwhelming connection between those students who are frequently absent and those who go on to underachieve in examinations. The school will only grant leave in term time in the most exceptional circumstances.
Leave taken without permission of the Head Teacher will be recorded as unauthorised, and you may be liable to a Penalty Notice resulting in a £100 fine. (Reduces to £50 if paid within 28 days).
Extended leave may result in your child being removed from the school roll.

Zumba Classes These dance classes are now running every Monday afternoon from 4-5pm. Parents are welcome to attend. The cost of each lesson is £5 for the hour and can be paid weekly. We do not however have a crèche facility but you can book your child into the after school club for the hour at a cost of £4 each week.

Car Parking Please, Please be more considerate when parking, dropping off or picking up your child. Road markings are there for a purpose and need to be adhered to for the safety of all. Thank you.

Dress Up Day—8th October To celebrate the end of our annual book week we will be having a dress up day on Friday 8th October. Children are asked to come to school dressed as a character from a book!

Year 6 Sailing We still have 5 places left for Year 6 sailing. If your child is interested please come into the school office and let us know.

newsletter no. 2 16th Sept

PE Lessons Just to remind you that for each PE lesson your child will need a plain white T-shirt, Black shorts, Plimsolls and Dark coloured jogging bottoms for outdoor lessons when it is cold.
PE is an important part of the school curriculum so please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school each week.
At Glade, all children take part in 1 hour of indoor PE and 1 hour of outdoor PE per week. They also take part in a daily 10 minute physical activity session in class, as well as Chinese exercise on a Friday. This helps to develop a healthy and active lifestyle and we ask you to help us to support this at home too.
We are pleased to be able to offer a wide range of extra curricular sporting opportunities including clubs and competitions for your child to continue to develop their skills and enjoyment of sport. For any information on PE or School Sports please feel free to talk to Mr. Merchant.

Good Works Assemblies Please note that because of timetable changes from this Friday and every week classes 4N and 4L have swapped times for good works assemblies. Class 4N will now be in the morning at 10.15am and Class 4L will be in the afternoon at 2.50pm. Thank you.

Building Works Phase 2 of our building programme commenced over the summer holidays with the construction of 2 new classrooms for our Reception pupils, giving them joint access to the Nursery garden for outdoor activities. The work is going ahead smoothly and all health and safety measures have been addressed so there is minimal impact on the day to day organisation of the school. We will give further details on progress nearer to completion.

Punctuality and Attendance Please let us get the term off to a good start with all pupils in the playground at 8.50 am each day ready for the bell at 8.55am. Please also collect your children on time at the end of the day.
