Taking Unauthorised Leave Please be advised that the school supports the Local Authority guidelines about taking leave during term time. We have been dismayed by the high number of families requesting leave from school for their children, so far this term we have issued 9 fines to families and 3 of our pupils have had their places withdrawn.

PAWS Summer Fair The annual summer fair took place last Saturday, 19th June and despite the weather raised £700 for school funds.
Many thanks to all the committee members, other parents and staff who gave up their time to help either on the day or beforehand.

West Runton Trip—Year 6 This takes place from Sunday 27th June—Friday 2nd July, All the pupils and staff are looking forward to this annual residential trip. Please make sure that you are at school on Sunday morning promptly at 10.30am.
For those children in Year 6 not going on the residential we have two organised trips, one on Monday 28th June and the other on Thursday 1st July. Please ensure that your child is in school promptly for these and that they have the correct clothing etc with them.

Protocol Meetings If you have received an appointment slip regarding a protocol meeting for your child please return it to the school office as soon as possible.

Tuck Shop The Paws Team will be selling off snacks after school next week. If you would like to purchase these please do so when picking up your child in the afternoon.

Ashtons Athletics Well done to all the children who took part in the athletics competition on Tuesday. They all did really well and worked hard at each event. A particular well done to Charlie Agyeman who finished first in both the 50m Sprint and the 400m distance events. Thank you to all the parents who came along to support in particular to Mr and Mrs Plunger for help with transport.

Year 1 Colchester Zoo The Year 1 children attended their trip to Colchester Zoo last Friday. It was a lovely day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Tudor Workshops The KS2 children saw a performance and took part in workshops on Tuesday of this week. If you have not yet sent in any money for this please do so as soon as possible. Thank you.

Gifted and Talented Assembly Auditions The auditions for this years Gifted and Talented assembly will be taking place for Years Reception, 1,2,3,5,and 6 on Tuesday lunchtime (29th June) and for Year 4 on Monday lunchtime (28th June). I look forward to seeing lots of talent, Mr. Merchant.

Good Works Assembly—25th June (tomorrow) Please note that for this week only both reception classes will be in the morning session of good works at 10.15am. This is because they are having their teddy bears picnic in the afternoon.

Reception Trip This is on Monday 28th June. The children will be leaving school at 9.15am so please make sure that they arrive in school on time and that they have a packed lunch for the day.

Band at Fair last Saturday ‘Graham Larkby &Escape Committee’. If you saw this band at the fete last week and are interested in hiring them the contact is j.fellman1antl.world.com

Nursery Places Please note, if your child turns 3 in September or is already 3 and you are interested in a nursery place at Glade please speak to Mrs Grant in the school office.

Year 2 School Trip to Sealife Centre Our children in Year 2 attended their trip to the Sealife Centre on Wednesday of this week. They all had a lovely time and were very well behaved.

Good Works Assembly Please note that tomorrow, Friday 18th June both the Year 3 classes will be performing a recorder recital at the morning session of good works assembly. Therefore there will be no year 3 class taking part in the afternoon session.

School Fair - Saturday 19th June The PAWS group are working hard to support the school to raise much needed funds for the school, such as PE kits for our children to wear when competing in sporting events in the borough. The annual Summer Fair is one of the major events of the year and we need the support of all our families. Please let the school office or Sammie Canning (Chair of the PAWS committee and 1J parent) know if you can help with any of the following.
· We need helpers tomorrow afternoon to help prepare and sort tables from 1.30pm.
· We need helpers on stalls during the day or part of the day on Saturday 19th June from 10am until approximately 4pm.
· Any donations for raffle prizes would be very welcomed.
· Donations for the bottle tombola stall (any alcohol to be delivered by an adult please).
· Contributions of home made and bought cakes to sell on the day.
· Anyone wishing to hire a stall, the charge will be £10.
Reminder tomorrow 18th June will be ‘World Cup Fever Day’ Please dress up with this theme in mind, donations of £1 or bottles/cakes for the tombola.(any alcoholic drinks to be brought in by an adult please).

School Photos You should have received your child’s school photograph by now. They need to be back at school before 21st June, otherwise orders will not be processed before the end of term Thank you.

School Nurse Drop in Session Please note that this date has changed. The school nurse will now be here on Monday morning, 21st June between 8.30-9.30am. If you have any concerns regarding your child please feel free to pop in for a chat.

After School Cycling Club Weekly cycling sessions are available at the Redbridge Cycling Centre in Hainault. They are each Monday and the cost is £2 per session or free if you are entitled to free school meals. If you are interested in your child taking part please come into the school office to collect a parental consent form which will need to be completed and taken along to the first session.

Caterham Taster Day We have managed to rearrange the Year 6 taster day for those pupils who will be going to Caterham High School in September. The new date is now Tuesday 6th July 2010.

Reminder Year 1 Trip tomorrow The Year 1 children will be visiting Colchester Zoo tomorrow. Please ensure that they all have their packed lunches and are in school on time as we shall be leaving at 9.15am, returning for approximately 3.30pm. They also need to wear school uniform. Thank you.

Musical Afternoon This was a fantastic event on Monday afternoon in school. All the children involved performed wonderfully and staff and parents thoroughly enjoyed watching. Our thanks to Mrs. Robinson for organising the event and all the participating staff from music school.

Wellgate Farm Just to remind parents of children in the Nursery, if you have not yet paid please send in the money as soon as possible for the farm that is visiting Nursery today. Thank you.

I hope you all had a good week off and are back feeling refreshed and ready for a busy half-term at school before the Summer holidays!
Recorder Festival A very big well done to all the children who participated in the Recorder Festival at the Ilford Town Hall on 26th May. It was a fantastic event!

Year 2 School Trip to Sealife Centre Just to remind you that the Year 2 trip is on Wednesday 16th June. We have arranged for each child to receive a goody bag at the end of the day. These are priced at £2 each so please send this amount in with the children on the day of the trip.
Also please ensure that your child is in school at 8.45am on 16th June as we are planning to leave school promptly at 9am. Thank you.

Race For Life We have 4 members of staff taking part in the Cancer Research Race for Life. Mrs Shaikh, Miss Nwichi, Miss Porter and Mrs Saleem. If you would like to make any donation to this very worthy cause please send it in an envelope tomorrow or Monday. Thank you.

Year 5 Science Museum A great day was had by all in Year 5, a very worthwhile visit and the tube journey was exceptionally smooth.

Maths Challenge Day This is tomorrow—all pupils will be involved in Maths problems/puzzles and challenges and investigations.

Reminder—West Runton Meeting The West Runton meeting for parents and pupils who will be attending this years residential trip is tonight at 5pm in the main hall.
