No.14 - 17th december

As we come to the end of another school term, I would like to take the opportunity of thanking all our PAWS committee members and governors for their continued support of the school. Many thanks to you all for supporting us in so many ways.

I would like to highlight some of our key successes this term:
· A stable staff team.
· Induction of our reception pupils who have settled in so well.
· Some wonderful learning opportunities, such as Theatre Groups, Science Week, One World Week, Food Events and school trips.
· The fantastic Christmas Performances.
· Fundraising for a wide variety of charities.
· The Children in Need Sleepover.
· The excellent turnout for our weekly Good Works assemblies.
· The setting up of the Parent/Toddler group. We would like to see some more people attending next term.
· ESOL and Family Numeracy classes.

After School Club Please note there will be no after school club tomorrow, Friday 18th December.

Book Amnesty If you have any library or school books at home please return them to us as soon as possible as our stocks appear to be every low in some parts.

Staffing Update I regret to inform you that Eric Long, who was Headteacher here for many years, lost his battle against leukaemia and passed away last week. I am sure you will join me in sending condolences to his family .
I would also like to welcome Marion Robbens to our staff team from January. She will be supporting the whole school and in particular Year 6 whilst Mrs Walsh is Acting Head.

Wishing you all the very best for the festive season and 2010! We look forward to seeing you all on 4th January.

No.12 - 3rd december

I do hope that all of our families who celebrated Eid last Friday had a fantastic family time.
In school this week, we have started our Christmas festivities with the PAWS discos tonight and Christmas performance rehearsals that are well under way.

Further Christmas Reminders of Dates
Dress Rehearsal—Morning Nursery, RC, 1J and 2S.
7th December at 10am
Actual Performance for parents—10am 9th December.
Dress Rehearsal—Afternoon Nursery, RN, 1M and 2M. 7th December at 2pm
Actual Performance for parents—2pm 9th December.

11th December Christmas Dinner Day Please note, it is now too late to order a Christmas dinner for your child as the food order has been sent as per previous communication.

Parent Concerns I was very disappointed to discover that a number of parents, who have clearly not read letters that have been sent out, have been very aggressive and rude when told that their child has not got a ticket for the PAWS discos.
For health and safety reasons, there is a limit to the number of children who can participate in such activities, that are not during the school day and are not run by school staff.
I would therefore clarify that PAWS Committee members are parent volunteers who give up their time, effort and energy to support the school. They deserve to be treated better by parents who are less generous with their time!

And now onto some Good News…..
Christmas Carols at Tesco—Our school choir will be performing at TESCO Woodford on 15th December at 1.30pm. It would be lovely to have parents come along to support.

Exhibition/Reports End of Term reports will be sent out next Friday 11th December.
There will also be an exhibition of children's work on the same day after school for parents. We will also provide an opportunity for parents to tell us what we do well and to share their complaints/moans, so that we can work towards addressing them.
