SATs Last week our Year 6 pupils worked very hard and put in a great deal of effort, enthusiasm and energy for their SATs. They are now looking forward to the forthcoming trips and end of term performance.
Staffing Update Good wishes and farewell to Mrs Stamp who is starting her maternity leave from tomorrow, having her second baby. Also congratulations to Miss MacGregor who is getting married over the half term holiday and will be returning as Mrs Grant!
Youth Games Success Many congratulations to Nicholas Reeve who has been selected to represent Redbridge at the Youth Games event in swimming. This is an outstanding achievement and a real privilege. We hope he does well. Go for it, Nicholas!
Dinner Money Once again we have a growing number of school dinner arrears. Please make sure that dinner money is paid each Monday and is in a clearly marked envelope, with your child’s name and class on it. Please also note that from September 2009, a new catering contractor will be providing school meals. Under the new arrangements only those who have paid in advance will be able to book school dinners.
Non-Uniform Day Reminder that this is tomorrow—Famous Faces.
School Closure Reminder May I just remind you all again of the school closure on Thursday 4th June. The school is being used as a polling station and so children are unable to come into school.
After School Club This childcare provision is now extremely popular. However, more and more parents are not booking places in advance. Please note, as there are strict rules concerning adult to pupil ratios, we cannot go over number. Therefore, unless you have booked and paid in advance, your child will not be accepted.
Contact Forms Despite several reminders we have only had about 50% of the contact forms that were sent out to all parents regarding the flu pandemic returned to us. We urgently need this information in order to make contact with parents in case of emergency. Therefore, if you have not already done so please return your form as soon as possible. If you have lost the form please come to the school office to obtain another one.

Newsletter 30 - 14th May 2009
Contact Forms Last week your child brought home a letter regarding swine flu and attached was a contact form for parents to complete. Thank you to all parents who have returned the information requested. If you have not yet done so, please return yours to the school office as soon as possible. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL IF THEY HAVE BEEN SICK IN THE MORNING AS THIS WILL ONLY INCREASE THE SPREAD OF THE BUG TO OTHERS!
Parking Once again, I am having to mention parking issues. Please be more considerate of our neighbours. A disabled driveway was blocked by one of our parents last week and car registration DU03 MOV was parked over the zigzags by the nursery!
PAWS (Parent Association Working For Schools) We had a great turnout at last week’s meeting. It was especially lovely to see some new faces and share new ideas. The next Non-uniform day is planned for 22nd May as listed overleaf. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee for agreeing to donate £500 towards further climbing apparatus for the playground. The committee also agreed to work towards raising £2000 to pay for a play long boat for the playground.
4th June—School Closure As listed in the dates overleaf, school will be closed to pupils on 4th June as the building is being used as a Polling Station. I hope that the early notice will enable you to make the necessary arrangements.
Meeting for Year 6 Parents—WEST RUNTON A Meeting has been arranged for parents to receive some important information regarding this forthcoming residential trip. Please make every effort to attend—May 19th at 6pm.

Newsletter 29 - 7th May 2009
I do hope that you all had a enjoyable long weekend and made the most of the sunshine.
Year 6 SATs Our Year 6 pupils will be sitting their SATs each day next week as follows:
Monday—Science Test A and B.
Tuesday—Short and Long Writing Task and Spelling Test.
Wednesday—Reading Test.
Thursday—Mental Arithmetic Test— Non-Calculator Paper.
Friday—Calculator Paper
Parents, please make sure that children arrive promptly each morning.
Budding Musicians Calling all children who are musicians—Grade 2 and above and playing any instrument. You are invited to a ’Come and Play Session’ at Bancroft's School on July 2nd. If your child would like to be involved in this, please leave details of his/her name, class, instruments played and grades with the school office for the attention of Miss Boak, Nursery Teacher. Further details will follow.
Dropping off children to school in mornings I have noticed that more and more parents seem to think it is ok to drop their children off to school in the mornings by simply letting them out of the car in the middle of the road and allowing them to come in to school on their own. The roads outside of school are extremely busy at this time and this is a very dangerous thing to do. Please make sure that you bring your children into the school playground safely.
Yoga Classes These will start at 1.30pm from next week and will cost £1.50 because of the extra half hour.
Family Literacy We already have a sufficient number of parents attending this programme, and are unable to accommodate any more. We hope to run the programme again next year.
Swine Flu Whilst we are all listening to the daily updates, I would urge parents to be cautious, but not overly concerned. Remember, basic hygiene and prompt action will ensure that the virus is contained. Please read the accompanying letter and check the school website for regular updates on this matter.
Year 5 parents We have arranged for you to come on May 13th 3.45pm and view the DVD that we will be using for the children’s Sex and Relationships programme. We will organise care of the children to enable you to attend.
PAWS Non-Uniform Day Please send in £1 as a donation for those participating on May 15th.
